Assistant Pastry (Rehire)

About the role

Norwegian Cruise Line is hiring an Assistant Pastry for its ships. The Assistant Pastry delivers products of the highest quality in freshness, taste and consistency, following USPH/FDA guidelines, and reports directly to the Chief Pastry. Candidates must apply online.

Key responsibilities

• Procure, scale, prepare and finish products according to standardized procedures and corporate specifications
• Keep the immediate work area clean at all times and maintain USPH/FDA standards
• Check station on arrival for safety and equipment issues and before leaving for cleanliness, proper disposal and storage and labeling
• Report waste daily and notify the Chief Pastry or Pastry of shortages or discrepancies
• Ensure food is prepared fresh, check temperatures and follow proper chilling and holding procedures
• Maintain an organized flow of production despite forecast and menu changes, and report on time in a clean uniform
• Perform other related duties as assigned, and comply with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and SEMS

Required profile

• Minimum one year of pastry production experience; formal culinary training may substitute at an equivalent rate
• At least six months operating basic pastry equipment such as scales, mixers and ovens
• High school diploma or foreign equivalent; a two-year culinary degree is preferred
• Intermediate English verbal and writing skills
• Able to work 7 days a week and live in close quarters with cabin-mates
• Physical demands: standing, walking long distances, lifting more than 25 pounds, and specific vision abilities
