Refrigeration Mechanic

About the role

The Refrigeration Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of the HVAC plant, provisioning plant, cold rooms, and all refrigerated bar and galley equipment aboard the vessel. The role reports to the Refrigeration Engineer and works closely with the engineering team to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC, provisioning, and refrigerated equipment, including cold rooms and galley units.
• Monitor refrigerant consumption and alert the Refrigeration Engineer to any irregularities.
• Maintain engine room and galley ventilation systems, fire dampers, and Gaylord systems.
• Perform laundry lint duct cleaning and other assigned duties.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a similar refrigeration/mechanic role on vessels.
• Knowledge of the company Safety Management System (SMS) and ability to work in close quarters with an international crew.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and a positive, flexible attitude.
