Assistant Electrician

About the role

The Assistant Electrician supports the maintenance of all electrical equipment and systems onboard, ensuring safety, environmental protection, and passenger comfort under the direction of the Chief Electrical Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical systems throughout the ship, especially in hotel and galley areas.
• Report concerns and assist in troubleshooting electrical problems independently.
• Locate major distribution panels to shut down power when needed for safety or maintenance.
• Follow safety routines, class rules, and industry standards for any system modifications.
• Adhere to the Safety Management System and emergency procedures.
• Perform duties assigned by the Chief Electrical Engineer and maintain effective employee relations.

Required profile

• Minimum one year of experience working with electrical systems and equipment.
• High school diploma or foreign equivalent.
• STCW training specific to the position from an accredited institution.
• Intermediate to advanced English verbal and written skills.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to schedule changes.
