Assistant Financial Accountant

About the role

The Assistant Financial Accountant supports the Financial Accountant and Chief Financial Accountant on a cruise ship, handling guest and crew financial transactions. This position requires accurate cash handling, credit/debit processing, and daily financial reconciliations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the onboard credit desk, crew window, and foreign exchange service during service hours.
• Process cash, credit, and debit payments, perform daily balancing of cash floats, and handle nightly close procedures.
• Perform batch postings, generate reports, and audit promotional charges for compliance.
• Prepare system account checks for management approval and ensure proper documentation for voyages.

Required profile

• Minimum six months of cash‑handling experience; hotel/front‑office or accounting/audit background preferred.
• High school diploma required; associate degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus.
• Ability to work 7 days a week in close‑quarters and interact with personnel at all levels.

Required skills

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Familiarity with Fidelio Cruise system (preferred).
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and written/oral communication skills in English.
