Control Room Operator

About the role

Enviva is seeking a Control Room Operator to monitor and manage all plant systems in our wood‑pellet production facility. The role ensures safe, efficient, and continuous operation while supporting our renewable energy mission.

Key responsibilities

• Operate plant functions from the control room, including chip feed, fuel feed, furnace, dryer, sizing, and pellet presses.
• Monitor indicator screens, signal lights, production rates, system statuses, and spark detection equipment.
• Adjust process parameters, maintain equipment temperature, and uphold safety standards.
• Diagnose and resolve equipment alarms and malfunctions using technical expertise.
• Communicate with team members, respond to radio calls, and act as the primary contact for plant operations.

Required profile

• Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, safety rules, and operating procedures.
• Basic hand‑tool proficiency and computer literacy.
• High school diploma or GED; prior experience in a control room or wood‑product manufacturing environment is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and capacity to work under stressful conditions.

Required skills

• Operation of HMI touch‑screen interfaces.
• Basic computer operation.
• Fundamental math calculations for flow, pressure, and performance metrics.
• Use of hand tools for routine adjustments.
• Monitoring and interpreting equipment indicator screens.
