Restaurant Hostess

About the role

The Restaurant Hostess greets guests, manages reservations, and controls guest flow to ensure a smooth dining experience on board.

Key responsibilities

• Take and manage restaurant reservations using a computerized reservation system.
• Answer telephone inquiries and handle special dining requests such as dietary needs and seating preferences.
• Maintain wait lists, direct escort teams, and monitor seating capacity ranging from 60 to 600 seats.
• Ensure the podium and reservation desk are set up, organized, and restocked for each meal period.
• Communicate restaurant maintenance needs to management and secure reservation system equipment after each shift.

Required profile

• Minimum six months experience as a waiter/assistant waiter on a large cruise ship or as a host/hostess in a shore‑side restaurant.
• High school diploma or foreign equivalent and certification in safety, environmental, public health, and sanitation regulations.
• Excellent organizational, time‑management, and telephone etiquette skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, interact with guests frequently, and adapt to a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Basic to intermediate proficiency with computerized reservation and table‑management systems.
• Intermediate to advanced English verbal and written communication skills.
