Wine Steward

About the role

The Wine Steward provides beverage service during meal hours in main dining rooms or designated venues on board. The role includes selling wine, restocking the cellar, and supporting wine‑related events.

Key responsibilities

• Promote and maximize wine sales, upsell premium and super‑premium brands.
• Present the wine list to every table and suggest alternative beverages when needed.
• Maintain proper storage, labeling, and temperature control of wines.
• Assist with wine cellar restocking, loading, and weekly stock‑take activities.
• Handle gift orders, pre‑orders, and wine deliveries to staterooms.
• Support the Head Wine Steward in training, wine‑tasting seminars, and maintaining wine displays.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year experience as a wine waiter in a land‑based restaurant or on a ship.
• Intermediate to advanced English communication skills.
• Ability to work 7 days a week in close‑quarters living conditions.
• Professional appearance, good hygiene, and a proactive, team‑oriented attitude.

Required skills

• Knowledge of wine regions and ability to recommend wines appropriately.
• Understanding of standard operating procedures for beverage service and pouring measures.
• Experience with wine cellar management and inventory control.
