Able Bodied Seaman – SP

About the role

The Able Bodied Seaman (AB) will support bridge and deck operations on a cruise vessel, ensuring safe navigation and vessel upkeep. This position reports to the Bosun and the Officer of the Watch (OOW) and may involve both at‑sea and port duties.

Key responsibilities

• Stand watch as directed by the Bosun and perform lookout duties.
• Serve as designated Helmsman, steering the ship in ports and switching between hand and auto steering.
• Monitor fire detection panels and respond to alarms as instructed by the OOW.
• Answer bridge telephones and operate bridge infrastructure, training other watch members.
• Make deck rounds and perform gangway and tender duties when required.
• Assist with training and guiding less‑experienced sailors onboard.

Required profile

• AB qualifications complying with International, National conventions and STCW 95 standards.
• Experience as a Deck Hand or equivalent position on vessels.
• Familiarity with the company Safety Management System (SMS).

Required skills

• Proficient Helmsman skills.
• STCW 95 certification.
• Seamanship and deck work competence.
