International Guest Services - French/Italian/Portuguese

About the role

This is a job onboard a cruise ship. The International Guest Services team assists all guests at the Guest Services Desk, focusing on non-English-speaking groups and individual guests with special needs, helping them receive a full, first-class cruise experience in their own languages.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and handle special requests from non-English-speaking guests, working with the Group Services Coordinator and Guest Service Manager on honeymoon, anniversary and birthday packages, dietary and medical needs, and follow up until they are satisfied.
• Contact group leaders and guests to help organize group events, restaurant bookings, special food orders, on-board tours and shore excursions.
• Answer questions at the Guest Services Desk during advertised hours and assist at embarkation, disembarkation, port talks, immigration and customs.
• Act as translator for guests communicating with Medical, Security, Revenue, Restaurants and senior management.
• Coordinate announcements and the translation and printing of the Freestyle Daily into the languages needed on each cruise.
• Greet non-English-speaking VIP suite guests and handle guest requests through to completion.
• Maintain a cash float for change and traveler checks, and assist the Cruise Programs department with activities for non-English-speaking guests.
• Follow the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and SEMS procedures.

Required profile

• Intermediate to advanced English, and intermediate to advanced French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish or Russian.
• At least one year of management experience in hotels/hospitality or guest service on board ships.
• Two-year Associate degree or equivalent in Public Relations and/or Hotel Management.
• Able to work independently, speak publicly to large groups, and show leadership, organization and a proactive, customer-service mindset.

Required skills

• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Micros and Fidelio Cruise.
