Second Purser (Pax) - Cruise Ship

About the role

Norwegian Cruise Line is looking for a Second Purser (passenger side) on its ships. The role covers passenger documents, manifests, non-revenue accounts, front desk support and coaching of the Assistant Purser, and requires working seven days a week.

Key responsibilities

• Inbound and outbound clearance of the vessel, passenger visas, port requirement files, pre-arrival advice to port agents, manifest distribution and port telex
• Send departure manifests by email after sailing and forward visitor requests to security and ports of call, including docking spot names
• Update the non-revenue file for housekeeping, hotel controller and night auditor, and send non-revenue discounts to the internet manager, spa manager and boutique manager
• Prepare Kosher wine amenity requests for Sabbath services, safety letters with the Assistant Purser, and port authority requisitions
• Update monthly passengers-on-board documents, daily voyage report, material landing manifests and prepare files for new cruises, including assisting the Executive Concierge with embarkation
• Prepare and balance amenities, distribute special advice lists, collect courier packages and coordinate the purser on duty schedule
• Control credit card authorisations, respond to accounting queries on past guest accounts and supervise declined card and open-balance cash letters
• Train and coach front desk staff on financial matters, support the Assistant Purser, train crew to higher performance and ensure adherence to appraisal systems and company policies
• Take part in crew and passenger safety drills as instructed by the ship's command

Required profile

• Hospitality background and travel industry experience
• Previous shipboard experience required; crew operations experience preferred
• Excellent administrative and communication skills, understanding of high-level service
• Able to work seven days a week
