Refrigeration Engineer

About the role

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is looking for a Refrigeration Engineer for its Oceania Cruises fleet. The post holder is responsible for the refrigeration, air conditioning and ventilation equipment and systems, and reports directly to the Chief Engineer.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the operation and maintenance of the HVAC plant, the provisioning plant and related cold rooms, and all refrigerated bar and galley equipment.
• Monitor refrigerant consumption closely and raise an alert if irregular situations occur.
• Maintain and keep up the engine room and galley ventilation systems, including local and centralised CO2/Halon fire extinguishing systems.
• Maintain and periodically test fire dampers and Gaylord systems.
• Carry out laundry lint duct cleaning as described.
• Prepare a handover report before leaving the vessel.
• Perform all other duties as assigned, and may delegate some of them to other officers in the team.

Required profile

• 3-4 years of relevant experience.
• United States EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate.
• Fluent in English, written and spoken.
• Full knowledge of the company's Safety Management System (SMS).
• Thorough knowledge of the vessel assigned.
