Second Purser (Crew)

About the role

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings is looking for a Second Purser (crew) to support crew administration, clearance, payroll and welfare on a cruise ship. The role covers clearances, crew accounts, payroll data entry, crew welfare and training support, and requires a hospitality background and travel industry experience.

Key responsibilities

• Handle crew clearances: liaise with port agents, prepare clearance papers, send daily crew manifests and movements, and attend ship's clearance with the Crew Purser.
• Maintain accurate crew accounting, payroll compliance and financial reporting, and keep crew systems up to date.
• Manage passports and seamen's books and Yellow Fever certificates, and assist with visa applications for disembarking crew.
• Update crew sign-on and sign-off dates in Fidelio, MXP and MAPS, and help with crew sign-ons, sign-offs and immigration checks.
• Set up US crew in payroll, collect tax paperwork, enter expenses, overtime and commissions, print pay slips and run the end-of-month payroll package.
• Take cash payments for crew accounts, sell foreign currency and provide US dollar change.
• Support the Crew Administrator, take crew cabin maintenance requests, follow up lost luggage and cover the reception desk during meetings.
• Attend crew welfare meetings, take part in safety drills and promote the Signature Your World Service program.

Required profile

• Hospitality background preferred.
• Travel industry experience and previous shipboard experience required.
• Experience in crew operations preferred.
• Knowledge of clearance and port regulations preferred.
• Outgoing, flexible and able to work in an international environment and under pressure.
