About the role
The Upholsterer supports the upkeep and refurbishment of guest and crew areas on board, ensuring all carpentry, wall coverings and soft furnishings meet the luxury standards of the cruise line.
Key responsibilities
- Reupholster, varnish and repair ship furnishings to maintain high standards in public and private areas.
- Install carpets and wallpaper as required and assist with emergency maintenance in staterooms and suites.
- Organise work to minimise noise, fumes and disruption to guests, coordinating with the General Manager and other department heads.
- Maintain accurate inventory of fabrics, tools and materials, and handle requisitions for supplies.
- Participate in weekly inspections of public areas with senior management.
- Assist guests with minor repairs to luggage, bags and shoes.
- Provide training to new colleagues and contribute to service training programs.
Required profile
- Fluent English with strong numerical and basic geometrical calculation skills.
- Proven upholstery and carpentry experience, including knowledge of fabrics and related materials.
- Outgoing, flexible personality able to work in an international, high‑pressure environment.
- Excellent appearance, social skills and well‑organised work habits.
