Assistant Systems Manager - Cruise Ship IT

About the role

Oceania Cruises is looking for an Assistant Systems Manager (ASM) to keep the IT department running smoothly on board its ships and aligned with the company's business objectives. The ASM participates in, implements and maintains all IT systems on board, reports to the System Manager and helps resolve support issues in a cost-effective way.

Key responsibilities

• Level 1 support for computer users and guests, logging and managing support requests in the help desk system and keeping them up to date.
• Set up Embarkation on or off the ship: stage hardware, deploy and set up Embarkation units, troubleshoot check-in issues, pack away equipment and inform the System Manager of any problems.
• Maintain hardware and software: preventive maintenance of printers and other devices, keep spare parts inventory updated, and practice asset management.
• Assist in coordinating technician and vendor visits, arrange access to equipment and monitor repairs.
• Help deploy, monitor, maintain, upgrade and support shipboard IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software and peripherals.
• Train users on applications where possible and keep them informed about system status.
• Ensure copyright policies are respected and report violations to the System Manager.
• Implement IT policies and procedures, including cyber security, and monitor password changes and user accounts.
• Prepare an end-of-contract turnover report and train the next ASM, and report on pending requests and ongoing projects.
• Follow company safety, pollution prevention and privacy rules, and take part in safety drills.

Required profile

• College diploma or university degree in computer science, or 3 years of equivalent work experience.
• Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems (Microsoft).
• Knowledge of MS Office, Fidelio Cruise (Cruise Management, Cashbook, Payroll, Security, Shore Excursion, Data Import, US Customs APIS, Quick Check In) and Micros Fidelio Point of Sale.
• NVS - Visual Reservation System.
