Assistant Plumber

About the role

The Assistant Plumber supports the ship’s plumbing systems, including potable, gray and black water lines, and assists with major mechanical overhauls on the vacuum system.

Key responsibilities

• Repair and maintain potable water, gray water and black water lines.
• Assist in major mechanical overhaul and repair work on the vacuum system.
• Notify the Plumber of consumables that need to be ordered.
• Follow safe working practices, including use of PPE and proper handling of chemicals.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by the First (Hotel) Engineer, Hotel Engineer, or Staff Chief Engineer.

Required profile

• Experience in a similar position on vessels.
• Knowledge of the Company Safety Management System (SMS).
• Ability to work as part of a team in an engine room environment.

Required skills

• Plumbing system maintenance.
• Vacuum system repair and overhaul.
