Engine Repairman

About the role

Norwegian Cruise Line is looking for an Engine Repairman. The main purpose of the role is the maintenance and repair of the ship's machinery and technical equipment, as directed by the First Engineer. Candidates must complete an online application to be considered.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the First Engineer in repairing machinery and equipment on board, such as piping, pumps, foundations, valves, decks, bulkheads, overheads, hatches, ladders, engines, evaporators and heat exchangers.
• Keep the repairman's workshop clean and organized.
• Follow the Safety Management System, the Emergency Plan, SMS contingency plans and procedures, and the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy.
• Support engine room operations, maintenance and repairs, and follow company procedures under the First Engineer's direction.
• Report any faults or defective equipment immediately and follow instructions from the manager.
• Perform other related duties as assigned, and maintain effective employee relations.

Required profile

• At least six months of prior experience performing mechanical maintenance and repair on heavy machinery.
• At least one year of experience in ARC, Oxy-Acetylene, MIG and TIG welding, including cutting and brazing.
• Basic to intermediate English verbal and writing skills, including correct grammar.
• Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and to adapt to changes in schedule, assignments and deadlines.
• High school diploma or foreign equivalent, plus STCW training from an accredited institution; a current welding certificate is preferred.
• Able to work seven days a week and to live in close quarters with limited space.
